Sliced Watermelon Salad and Fig Balsamic Glaze

Watermelon is one of those fruits that signal summer. Instead of breaking out the salad bowl, reach for the cutting board to serve up sliced watermelon salad balsamic. Drizzle slices with fig balsamic glaze for your next cookout.

Is there anything more essential to summer than cool, crisp slices of watermelon? They’re juicy and just what you want to eat for a healthy dessert… but if you’ve ever tried a sprinkle of salt on watermelon, you know how it amplifies the sweet fruity flavor. Slicing the watermelon makes the fruit resemble pizza slices and doesn’t necessarily need a plate.

Fig Balsamic Glaze

Topped with feta crumbles, fresh oregano (or fresh basil / mint), and crunchy Maldon sea salt, but what makes these slices sizzle is the balsamic fig glaze. Our Orchard Choice and Sun-Maid California Dried Figs make balsamic vinegar pop. You could use our Golden Dried Figs but the golden color once cooked will mute, so our preferred pick here is our Mission Dried Figs. Fig balsamic glaze is perfect for drizzling on a wheel of Brie, to serve on a cheese board, or even to drizzle on grilled meat, but here, it brings a different side of watermelon to the table, amplifying its sweetness.

How to Make Watermelon Salad Balsamic

The first place to start with the watermelon salad balsamic is thinking about how to select the melon. Give it a good flick or thump. What you should hear is a hollow sound. Secondly, think about how many people you are planning to feed as you select a size. Once home, slice the watermelon in half. This will make cutting thick rounds easier.

What to Eat with Watermelon Salad

Grilled meats are a natural pairing to eat alongside watermelon salad with balsamic. A few of our favorites include grilled baby back ribs, kebabs, or burgers. Then, a side dish of either grilled potatoes, potato salad is always a good idea, or a hearty whole grain salad that is even better the next day.
