Figamajigs
Blue Ribbon California Figamajigs are extruded fig pieces made from California Dried Figs. Other ingredients such as fruit fiber solids, dextrose, cornstarch, vegetable oil and/or glycerin (optional) can be added. The finished product is coated with either rice flour or dextrose to keep it free flowing. Color and flavor can be added, resulting in the final product available as either natural, or artificially colored and flavored, based on the buyer’s specifications. The ingredients used in Figamajigs can be as simple as dried figs and either dextrose or rice flour.
Figamajigs were developed to provide the user with a fruit ingredient that has uniform and controlled physical and technical properties such as water activity, flavor, color and texture. They are the first practical sized fig ingredient for use by food manufacturers and are ideally suited for shelf stable intermediate moisture foods such as breads, cereals, hot cereal mixes, cakes and confectionery items. Figamajigs, a highly nutritious fruit piece, can readily mimic much more expensive ingredients such as various berries and other fruits at a fraction of the price. Standard sizes are 3/8” and 1/4” however, 5/8” to 1/8” and custom sizes/shapes can be made. Our Figamajigs/Fig Nuggets are Kosher and available in conventional, natural or certified organic. Applications:
Nuggets are cohesive in most applications except wet systems. They can be used in a wide variety of products such as baked goods, cereals, packaged mixes, snack mixes, candy, confectionery, and ice cream.
Packaging:
Packed in 30 lb. corrugated cardboard cartons with separate poly liner.
Recommended storage:
- 40°-70°F., <55% Humidity
