Premium Dried Figs & Quality Assurance: Taste the Difference

The California Fig Industry requires that all incoming deliveries be 100% sampled, (i.e. a sample is drawn from each bin to determine if the fruit meets all incoming standards established by the State of California Marketing Order for dried figs. In addition, Valley Fig Growers' own quality standards must also be met.

Only when a grower's delivery meets California state and Valley Fig Growers incoming standard, will the fruit be allowed to be processed. Valley Fig Growers' extensive cold storage facilities help maintain the product's quality from time of receipt to when it's packed.

Upon delivery to Valley Fig Growers, all fruit meeting these high-quality standards are machine and hand sorted and size-graded where applicable.


Plump & Moist

The dried figs are washed and cleaned, bringing their moisture content up, from 12-20% as delivered, to a moisture content as high as 31% which make our figs plump, moist, and delicious.


Two Sorts for the Best Figs in the World

The fruit then travels through more sorting processes to remove poor quality fruit and is then assigned a final home in our popular retail bags or reseal containers, or for our industrial and food service customers in bulk 30-pound cases of figs, or into ingredient forms of diced figs, pastes, and concentrates.


The Common Fig: Freshly Packed

Valley Fig Growers offers conventional, natural (preservative-free, low-moisture) and organic California Figs that are plump and delicious. Conventional dried figs destined for our domestic consumer packages and most bulk fig customers are treated with potassium sorbate to inhibit yeast (fermentation) and mold growth. In order to preserve the beautiful amber color of our Golden figs, sulfur dioxide is added, although at much lower levels than is customary for other dried fruits such as apricots, golden raisins, peaches, pears, or apples. Our organic figs are CCOF certified.

Direct Shipping from the Source

Orchard Choice and Sun-Maid brand dried figs are shipped direct from our Valley Fig Growers facility or shipped to Sun-Maid Growers of California for consolidation with Sun-Maid products. Packaged figs are also stored at a remote warehouse to enhance customer service.
